The Spider Awards Competition
Spider Awards has honored my aerial black and white photograph “Geothermal Expedition” with Nominee status in the 2022 competition. This is the second Spider Award for my photography. My 2021 Spider Award was “Organic Geometry” in the nude category. I have entered the 2023 competition. I’m striving to move up from the Nominees to the Winner’s Circle. Wish me luck; its very competitive.
Why I Entered this Picture in the Spider Awards
What I like about this picture is the way the silhouetted figures appear so small in the landscape giving it a minimalist appeal while the pathway guides our eye from the foreground all the way to the infinite horizon. Zoom in for a close look and you can see how the stairway begins on the left side of the frame and ventures down to the geothermal vent at the bottom. The path crosses the bridge and leads to steps that rise to the top of the next hill and follows the ridge across two hills until leaving the frame on the far right. Along the path you can find small silhouetted figures. I think this picture conveys a story of exploring the glacial wilderness.
