Iridium Collection

Otherworldly Visions from Sam Dobrow

Iridium Collection

The Iridium Collection brings together surreal, richly saturated photographs made with a full-spectrum camera and a special filter that blends narrow bands of visible light with infrared. Through careful post-processing, Sam Dobrow fine-tunes the unusual colors produced by this mix of light, shaping images into vivid, otherworldly visions.

The collection’s name refers both to the Iridium filter and to infrared light, often abbreviated as IR. It also evokes iridium’s colorful salts—a fitting reference to the striking spectrum that runs through the work. Across the collection, color is the connecting thread, while each portfolio explores its own subject matter.

The first portfolio presents Kolmanskop, with images from Dobrow’s book Ghost Town: The Untold Story of Kolmanskop. Additional portfolios are in development. Explore the collection to discover each series and its distinctive take on familiar subjects transformed by infrared light. For photography enthusiasts, infrared photography fans, fine art collectors, and anyone seeking a vivid accent for an interior, these images offer a compelling invitation to look again.
