You are invited to a multi-sensory experiential event from 6 PM to 9 PM on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the Gallery @ Coconut Grove Arts Festival, located in the heart of Coconut Grove.
The Gallery @ Coconut Grove Arts Festival, believes that appreciation of the visual arts should be elevated from merely viewing objects of desire to a comprehensive experience that links those objects to their cultural and societal meaning. The goal with this exhibit is to enhance the enjoyment of Sam Dobrow’s fine art photography of Scotland by creating an experiential exhibit that taps into the emotions with music, cultural/historic significance, and Scotch whisky tasting. The Photographs
Sam Dobrow will present “Scotland – Faith and Fortitude” a collection of twenty five (25) fine art photographs of the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye. Join us for a tasting of Glenfiddich single malt Scotch whisky, small bites from Bombay Darbar Indian Restaurant, the sounds of Scottish bagpipe music played by Kenny Ahern from the St. Andrews Pipe Band of Miami, and Sam Dobrow’s visions of the Scottish Highlands.
Scotland – Faith and Fortitude is a curated collection of thought provoking photographs that tell a story of a harsh land that spawned a culture of hearty endurance, strong faith, and a fortitude to survive. The stark landscape gives us insight into the generations of people who struggled against the elements. People who fought to protect their land, their honor, and their religion. Looking across vast landscapes and into historic castles, we experience a sense of solitude and feel a connection with the people who, for generations, lived there, fought, conquered, and perished there. The dramatic monochromatic photography amplifies the sense of solitude and solidarity.
