Original Broadcast: Oct 10 at 3PM

This video is an edited version of the live broadcast from October 10.

Until recently, Sam Dobrow’s portfolio “CUBA: Living Under The Shadow”, has been living in the shadows. What has recently emerged is a powerful set of images portraying a society living in fear of an oppressive totalitarian regime. Dobrow’s photographic style presents an allegory of opression through the use of shadows and silhouettes. People in Dobrow’s photographs appear to be hiding in plain sight.

Previews of this portfolio have drawn accolades from Cuban immigrants and art aficionados. Watch this presentation to see previously unreleased images from this powerful photostory. At the conclusion of this artist talk, Dobrow offers photography collectors an eleven print portfolio of original c-prints.

Atlanta Celebrates Photography is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the cultivation of the photographic arts and the enrichment of the Atlanta art community. ACP helps make Atlanta a leading center for the world’s fastest growing art form by creating experiences that enrich, inspire and transform. In addition to year-round programs, ACP produces the largest annual community-oriented photo festival in the United States. ACP provides experiences that engage and enrich diverse audiences utilizing the power of photography as a tool for sharing experiences, learning about our world, and creative self-expression.

Faced with the challenges of organizing a large festival in the era of COVID-19, ACP turned their attention to technology and created a virtual festival for 2020. The majority of events are online with a few socially-distanced in-person events at local venues and galleries. Please visit the ACP website to participate in a month-long online festival of events.
