Sam Dobrow presents several of his cornerstone photographs from his 110+ page photobook, “Orient Expression: A Photographer’s Journey to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam”. Dobrow explains how his journey to Indochina evolved from a childhood fear of dying in The Vietnam War to becoming a passive observer of an ancient civilization that overcame war and embraced altruism. Dobrow’s works include HDR images, panoramas, and infrared photographs all brought together with a signature post processing style.
Atlanta Celebrates Photography
As a participant in the Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) festival, Sam Dobrow is holding virtual artist talks throughout the month of October, every Wednesday and Saturday at 3PM. You can subscribe to his YouTube channel to watch these talks live or replay at a more convenient time.
Atlanta Celebrates Photography is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the cultivation of the photographic arts and the enrichment of the Atlanta art community. ACP helps make Atlanta a leading center for the world’s fastest growing art form by creating experiences that enrich, inspire and transform. In addition to year-round programs, ACP produces the largest annual community-oriented photo festival in the United States. ACP provides experiences that engage and enrich diverse audiences utilizing the power of photography as a tool for sharing experiences, learning about our world, and creative self-expression.
Faced with the challenges of organizing a large festival in the era of COVID-19, ACP turned their attention to technology and created a virtual festival for 2020. The majority of events are online with a few socially-distanced in-person events at local venues and galleries. Please visit the ACP website to participate in a month-long online festival of events.
